Last chance: Jack Nicklaus swore his success came from how he saw a shot, not how he hit it.

Before every swing, he’d pick a very specific image — not just a line or a flag, but the exact flight pattern he wanted to see in the air.
He once said he never hit a shot without first seeing it vividly in his mind.

Today, sports psychologists call this mental imagery rehearsal.
Players like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler still use the same technique — updated with focus breathing and neuro‑priming tools — because Nicklaus was dead right: your brain swings toward what it visualizes.

Lessons From Legends reveals how timeless know‑how from players like Nicklaus, Snead, and Nelson has shaped today’s most effective mental routines.

Let’s Talk Rory and Cam and Two BIG Lessons

Some of the biggest golden nuggets and tips you can get each year is by listening to the exit interviews of PGA players. There is so much that can be learned and even the smallest change in perspective can you help you experience your next breakthrough or prevent another meltdown.

Speaking of meltdowns, let’s talk about Rory. Yesterdays round was difficult to watch, wasn’t it? If you get a chance, watch the new documentary on Rory just released a couple of weeks ago. It’s featured on Amazon Prime.

I’m not going to spoil it for you, but he explains his mindset and the numerous reasons he has failed in the past. After watching this documentary, everything makes sense.

The reason he misses 2 to 3 feet putts is not about his technique. His greatest adversary on the golf course is himself.

It’s a fascinating study in how the mind can sabotage the best players in the world. He continues to fight a mind battle of fear that many golfers (like us) can relate to.

Now another great lesson from Cam Young…

When the reporters asked him how he planned to prepare for his final round of the Masters while in contention…he said he planned to go to church with his family.

Obviously this is a testament to his faith, but there is something else going on as well. You see, he goes to church every Sunday morning with his family regardless of where he is playing and regardless of what position he is in going into the final round of any tournament.

PGA players work off of routines, rituals, and habits. So following his routine is what allows him to be so successful and also allows his performance to be predictable.

It’s actually a key element and we will talk more about it in a future newsletter.
